Draft is done! Next up, NaNoWriMo

The big news today is that I’ve finished the first draft of my book. As of right now, it’s just under 64,000 words, and so full of holes it might as well be a colander. I know this because I changed things as I wrote without going back and fixing stuff in the beginning.

That’s ok, that’s what first drafts are for. The next draft I’ll go through and fill those holes, it’ll be fine.

But today is October 28th, which means November 1st is literally 4 days away. If you’re in the novel writing space at all, you’ve probably heard of NaNoWriMo, which is short for National Novel Writing Month. It’s an annual event where you try to write a novel in a single month.

I think technically the goal is 50,000 words, but most people say “write a novel in a month.”

Since I just finished my draft, I now have a free November. So I think I’m going to take a stab at it. Will it turn into something I eventually release? Who knows. That would be great.

I’ll keep this spot updated with my progress, or, you can click Word Counts down in the footer to keep track of how my November is going.
